Return from sabbatical!

I have not posted on this blog for two years. Why? Possibly hundreds of reasons, but two stand out. 1) I'm so busy that blogging just doesn't make the priority list and 2) I have grown to despise blogs. I've actually considered starting a new blog calling it something like, "the real mommy blog". Blogs in my opinion are a perfect snap shot of someone's life. And that picture is taken by the person posting, so they can include or not include any information they want. Most people want to present as having a "perfect" life with a picture perfect happy family. But the truth is that their life is not really that perfect. Reading about other peoples' disgustingly perfect lives is not something I want to be a part of. So I've tried avoiding blogs, including my own. I don't say any of this to offend anyone. It is simply my opinion. No one probably even checks this blog anymore because there hasn't been any posts for two years.

So, my real life... well, to be honest it's not really something that I want to share with a million other people, or even twenty other people, which may be another reason I never post. Most people don't want to share all their problems either, hence all the happy and fake blogs out there. All I can say is that it's been a rough year for me and our family. At the same time we have been incredibly blessed in many ways. There's the good and then there's the bad. In an attempt to not make this incredibly depressing, I'm going to avoid any real details about the bad. I only will say that life has presented many unseen challenges this year and it's always a work in progress.

Welcome back! I'm happy for even a brief update on you and your family. It has been WAY too long since we've talked.

I cannot believe how grown up Savannah is, I'm shocked! She is beautiful. I've been meaning to call you, I really want to catch up!

Tamera, I am SO glad you finally blogged. I check every so often. For myself blogs are one of the only ways I have to keep up with people and their lives and their families, especially now that we are so far away. I don't disagree with you about people's "perfect family" blogs, but at the same time I think if you really keep up with people and their blogs you will find that not all posts are about their perfect life and their perfect family. Most people blog once in a while about their frustrations and hardships, or at least hopefully they do. I do think that part of the reason people blog so much about the positive is that, like you, they don't want to share the negative nitty gritty details of their life with the rest of the world. But, I always think it's better for people to be honest and to share the good with the bad so that all of us will not feel like somehow we don't live up. BTW, have you ever checked out seriouslysoblessed.blogspot.com? Funniest freaking blog ever (it's a joke blog). It TOTALLY makes fun of exactly what you are talking about and I love it! It can be offensive to some people, but I just find it hilarious. You should check it out. I would LOVE to hear more about how you and your cute little family are doing. I know, more than I express on my blog, that life gives everyone serious challenges and no one is exempt from those. I hope things are looking up for you guys and I hope you know you have a friend who reads your blog all the way over here in the Philippines! BTW, happy birthday yesterday!
